A Biltmore Christmas

If a Hallmark movie makes it into this newsletter, you can trust it's a good one. Let's be honest some of the network's holiday content falls victim to bad writing and stilted performances. But there are a few that rise above the rest! And A Biltmore Christmas is one of the best. Okay, no more rhyming. A Biltmore Christmas is so compelling that it had me genuinely wondering how it would end. Starring Bethany Joy Lenz (always a sign that you're in for a treat), A Biltmore Christmas tells the story of screenwriter Lucy, who is tasked with writing a remake of the (fictional) 40s Christmas movie, His Merry Wife. She travels to the (real) Biltmore Estate in North Carolina where the original movie was filmed to help with her writer's block, encounters a magical hourglass that transports her back to the 40s (as one does) and finds herself on the movie set. She quickly meet cutes with the star of the film, Jack. As she travels between past and present, Lucy tries to juggle budding romance, her unfinished script and the problems she's accidentally causing with the film's cast and crew. A Biltmore Christmas is filmed on location at the actual Estate, which means the scenes are especially beautiful. Bethany Joy Lenz and Kristoffer Polaha (Jack) have true chemistry and are clearly having a good time with the 1940s-style banter. And the movie grapples with more interesting themes than "should I move back home and marry the guy I dated in high school?". It's a very fun watch that you should definitely work into your movie rotation this holiday season!
