Five things to make you smile
I don't know about you, but it's been a hectic start to the month of March for me. Between some work projects that have kept me very busy, Colton jumping the fence in this week's episode of The Bachelor and just the current state of politics in general, I was happy to discover a couple of trailers, articles and clips that made me smile this week. Here's some happiness to kickstart your weekend:
Yes, I'll always watch the latest episode of Carpool Karaoke, but the bit has become a bit tired as of late. So what did James Cordon's team do to shake it up? Stick Brie Larson and Samuel L. Jackson in a car by themselves and let them sing Ariana Grande's 7 Rings. And then for some reason they do some sort of Q&A game.
If you're enjoying Schitt's Creek like I am, you'll also love this compilation of Alexis saying "David", highlighting the completely unique way she chooses to pronounce a common name.
Taylor Swift made quite a splash on the cover of Elle's latest issue. Most things involving Taylor are best when she writes them herself (have we all forgotten about her brilliant SNL monologue back in 2009?). So instead of a profile where Taylor runs into the restaurant looking casual, but put together, to meet her interviewer, Taylor gave us some wisdom. She wrote a really inspiring and touching guide to life lessons -- 30 things she's learned before her 30th birthday.
Marie Claire released its stunning April cover, featuring "The Change-Makers" Ava DuVernay, Jessica Chastain and Constance Wu. I ran home to see if the issue was in my mailbox yet, because I can't wait to see it in-person. In the meantime, you can read the cover story now.
I cannot wait for these three new movies/specials to premiere later this year, but this week the trailers finally dropped! First up, Late Night, a comedy with a Devil Wears Prada-vibe that is written by Mindy Kaling. Amy Schumer posted a new clip from her upcoming Netflix comedy special, Growing, which made realize how much I've missed having her on my screen. And the trailer for Something Great, the latest Netflix romcom to grace our TVs, was finally released. But this one looks more like a love story between three best friends, Gina Rodriguez, DeWanda Wise and Brittany Snow. The best kind of love story!
