How to watch the 2022 Oscar nominated films
The 2022 Oscar nominations are here, and William's predictions from our previous issue were right on point! You have about six weeks to watch as many Academy Award nominated films as your schedule will allow before the March 27 ceremony. If you want the Academy to recognize your favorite movie of the year, you can submit your own nomination in a special Fan Favorite category. A number of the Oscar-nominated flicks are still in theaters or will return to theaters for brief runs prior to next month's ceremony. If you're wondering how to watch these films in the comfort of your home, most of the nominations are now available to rent or stream on a variety of services. Below is your guide to Oscar season!
The Best Picture nominations
Belfast | 7 nominations: You can rent Kenneth Branagh's semi-autobiographical film on a number of platforms, including Amazon Prime and Apple.
CODA | 3 nominations: With Tick Tick missing the best picture category, CODA is the film I was most excited to see show up! You can watch it now on Apple TV+
Don't Look Up | 4 nominations: Netflix made a splash in Best Picture this year. You can catch this star-studded, climate change doomsday film on the streaming service now.
Drive My Car | 4 nominations: This Japanese film also scored nominations in Directing and Screenplay categories. It's currently in theaters and will land on HBO Max on March 4.
Dune | 10 nominations: This sci-fi movie scored the second most nominations for 2022. You can rent Dune on a number of streaming services, and the film will return to HBO Max on March 10.
King Richard | 6 nominations: This biopic about Serena, Venus and Richard Williams is now available to rent on a number of platforms. If you have an HBO Max subscription, it'll return to the streaming services on April 7 (after the Oscars...).
Licorice Pizza | 3 nominations: One of the later Oscar releases, there is no date for Paul Thomas Anderson's film to hit streaming services at this time.
Nightmare Alley | 4 nominations: Guillermo del Toro's second Best Picture nominated film is now available on HBO Max.
The Power of the Dog | 12 nominations: Netflix again! The Best Picture front-runner is available to stream on Netflix now.
West Side Story | 5 nominations: You might still be able to catch Stephen Spielberg's remake in theaters, but if you can hold on a few more weeks, the movie will arrive on Disney+ and HBO Max on March 2.
